Mark and Vanessa got in touch with me through some good friends of theirs who we had purchased for last year. They were looking to buy a long term family home in the inner west.
Mark and Vanessa had been looking on and off for the best part of 12 months when they engaged us. During this time they had unfortunately missed out on a number of properties as, like most people, they were finding buying relatively challenging. They wanted a long term family home but weren’t quite ready to move into it, so would rent it out for a few years first.
Their price bracket of the early to mid $1m range is extremely competitive in the inner west with first home buyers, young families, investors and even downsizers very active in the market. Getting as much property as possible within budget was a challenge and also ensuring we secured a property they could add value to long term was important.
Within a week I had come back to Mark and Vanessa with some options for them to inspect. From the first round of inspections we were pretty close to the mark as having previously lived in Newtown and attended school at Stanmore I knew the market and agents very well. Within 3 weeks we had identified their dream property… all we had to do now was buy it.
The property at Brandling St was a beautiful federation timber cottage on a good size block with rear lane access. It had scope to add parking down the track and extend upwards with a second level. We were able to secure the property prior to auction at a price my clients were wrapped with.
We have since celebrated the purchase over drinks and they still can't believe they have brought such a great property in Alexandria!
